President Dale Hamby (2017-2018) presents a $1,000 check to Mark Cunningham, Executive Director of COBYS Family Services. COBYS is a Christian family service agency that provides foster care and adoption services; counseling for adults, children and families; and family life education.
COBYS plans to use the donation from Rotary Club of Lancaster South to expand its library of resources for foster children and for the families who care for these children. Caseworkers will use these books and other materials to help foster children process their experiences and to help equip foster/adoptive parents to understand and address their children's special needs.
COBYS receives funding from public and private sources. Considering state budget issues the past few years, adequate funding is not assured, and reduced public funding almost assuredly is.
