Lancaster South Rotary Club Honors Student of the Month

 

Alec Groff, a senior at Lampeter Strasburg High School, has been selected as Lancaster South Rotary Club’s Student of the Month for November, 2013. He was presented to the club by Dr. Kevin Peart, Superintendant of the Lampeter Strasburg School District.

 

Alec is the son of Brian and Patricia Groff of Willow Street.

Alec is a member of the Scholastic National Honor Society. His school activities include Student Council, Varsity Club, Interact Club and as a counselor for middle school students. Alec participates in golf, basketball and lacrosse. He was a member of Lampeter Strasburg’s 2013 Homecoming Court.

Alec has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll, a recognition given to students who achieve all A’s. He was chosen as the recipient of the Whitey Award in lacrosse, and as an All-Section defensive player in basketball.

In the community Alec is a member of Lancaster County Bible Church where he serves as an usher. He volunteers at the Lampeter Fair, the Toys-for-Tots program, the Lions Club barbeque, and visits seniors at nursing homes.

 

His hobbies and interests include all sporting activities and hiking.

Alec’s future plans are to attend a 4 year college to study Chemical Engineering, and then obtain a job in that field.

 

Student of the Month is selected on the basis of academic excellence as well as school and community service.
