Colin McDonald, a senior at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, has been selected as Lancaster South Rotary Club’s Student of the Month for November, 2020. He was presented to the club at its virtual meeting by Dr. Benjamin Feeney, Principal of Lampeter-Strasburg High School.

Colin is the son of Ray and Terri McDonald of Lancaster.

Colin has received distinguished honor roll recognition and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is the Senior Class President and is a member of the Model United Nations and L-S High School Heroes program (a mentoring program that teams high school seniors with third grade students as real-life role models). Colin is also a member of the varsity wrestling team.

As a junior, Colin was named as a Burrowes Scholar in social studies. He was a 2020 Homecoming King candidate.

In the community, Colin is involved in the youth group at Pequea Church.

In his spare time, Colin enjoys hunting, fishing, watching Philadelphia Eagles’ football, politics and spending time with his family and friends.

Next year, Colin plans to attend college to study marketing. His future goals involve a career in politics.

 

Elizabeth (Lizzy) Deardorff, a senior at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, has been selected as Lancaster South Rotary Club’s Student of the Month for November, 2020. She was presented to the club at its virtual meeting by Dr. Benjamin Feeney, Principal of Lampeter-Strasburg High School.

Lizzy is the daughter of Ben and Amy Deardorff of Lancaster.

Lizzy has consistently received honor roll recognition and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is the co-president of Student Council and is a member of the Pioneer Interact Club and L-S High School Heroes program (a mentoring program that teams high school seniors with third grade students as real-life role models). Lizzy is co-captain of the girls’ soccer team where she has been named a Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star. She also plays soccer for the PA Classics U19 Girls Academy Team and is a member of the varsity track & field team.

As a junior, Lizzy was named as a Burrowes Scholar in family & consumer science. She has also been honored by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Lizzy was a 2020 Homecoming Queen candidate, where she finished as the second runner-up.

In the community, Lizzy volunteers in the Kid Ministry at LCBC.

In her spare time, Lizzy enjoys running, skiing, soccer, drawing and spending time with her family and friends.

Next year, Lizzy plans to attend college to study nursing and continue playing soccer. Her future goals include earning a doctorate degree in physical therapy.

Student of the Month is selected on the basis of academic excellence as well as school and community service.
